We often get questions about why CNIB Guide Dogs exclusively uses Labradors, Golden Retrievers or mixes thereof for our program. One of the reasons is that these breeds have double coats well suited to Canada’s wide range of weather. Their thick undercoat helps keep them warm in the winter and cool in the summer and their topcoat repels water.
